This paper presents the research results on the influence of surface roughness during taper turning of Aluminium 6061 on a copy taper attachment lathe. The taper attachment lathe was designed and fully fabricated prior to the experiments in order to evaluate the stability of the equipment through its effect on the surface roughness of machined parts. In this study, the Taguchi method was applied to conduct the experiments. The experiments were carried out with a constant feed rate of Sd = 0.07 (mm/rev); V= 37.5 ÷ 45.5 (m/min); t= 0.10 ÷ 0.20 (mm) on aluminium 6061 material; A VCGT 110304 FN insert was used as the cutting tool and surface roughness Ra was measured using a Mitutoyo SJ-220 device. The experimental results demonstrate the relationship between cutting parameters (t, Sd, V) and surface roughness Ra during taper turning.
