Nghiên cứu đánh giá hiệu suất vữa xi măng sử dụng 100% xỉ thép điện hồ quang điện (EAF) cacbonat hóa thay thế hoàn toàn cát tự nhiên. Quá trình xử lý xỉ EAF thô đạt tỷ lệ hấp thụ 2% lượng CO2. Phản ứng giúp chuyển đổi CaO thành CaCO3 bền vững, điều này đã được thể hiện qua các phân tích XRD và TGA. Thực nghiệm tiến hành trên ba cấp phối, mẫu đối chứng, vữa xỉ thô (100SS) và vữa xỉ cacbonat hóa (100SS-C). Kết quả cho thấy, xỉ thô làm giảm các đặc tính cơ lý so với đối chứng, nhưng quy trình cacbonat hóa đã khắc phục sự suy giảm này. Cụ thể, mẫu 100SS-C ghi nhận hiệu suất nén được cải thiện và tăng 4,27% cường độ uốn so với 100SS. Xét về vi cấu trúc, tinh thể CaCO3 làm đặc chắc, chèn lấp hiệu quả các lỗ rỗng mao quản, giúp khống chế hiện tượng co ngót khô. Kết quả khẳng định tính khả thi của xỉ EAF cacbonat hóa, mang đến giải pháp vật liệu nhằm tận dụng chất thải, bảo tồn tài nguyên và lưu trữ carbon.
