Narrative structure in Nam Cao's short stories

Abstract

Each literary work is a whole of art in which the structures form a perfect whole combined with the sophisticated association so that the reader can explore the meaning of stories inside it. Learning about the narrative structure in Nam Cao’s short stories, we essentially rely on the criteria of time and character. So, we can see some kinds of narrative structure such as the linear narrative structure; the narrative structure under the inner circuit of characters (psychological structure); the multi-line structure and the single-line structure. In addition, the short stories by Nam Cao also have the frame narrative structure. This type of narrative structure does not account much in the number of stories, but we still think that Nam Cao is really flexible in constructing the narrative structures in his short stories.
