Study of cascade refrigeration applications to technology of preserving blood and blood products

Abstract

Blood and blood products requires a rigorous process of preservation with the temperature ranging from -1960C to 240C. At Hue Haematology and Blood Transfusion Center multiple refrigeration equipment with different thermal regime including: 240C, 40C, -350C, -860C and -1960C is used to preserve the products. Among these devices, -1960C cryo preserving container has the most complex operation process. Because liquid nitrogen is bought from the market, transportation,storage and preservation is difficult and complex. It is also one of the reasons why the Center has not established the bank for stem cell preservation.
This paper proposes applying a cascade refrigeration system to preserve blood and blood products at Hue Haematology and Blood Transfusion Center.
