CONSTRUCTION OF A COMMUNICATION MODEL IN IMPROVING CAPACITY TO COPE WITH CLIMATE CHANGE AND DISASTERS FOR FISHERMEN IN DANANG CITY

Abstract

Climate change (CC) and disasters have significantly increased the pressure on fishing communities who have suffered many types of risk during their work on the vast ocean. Survey results indicated that among 65 interviewed fishermen in Danang City, even though more than 70 percent of the fishermen have heard of climate change, only approximately 15 percent of them perceived basic concepts about related climate change. Via group discussion, climate change risks to fisheries were identified and assessed relevantly. From research findings, this paper presents a model of multi-communication to enhance the awareness and coping capacity of fishing communities with climate change and disasters in Danang City<?xml:namespace prefix = \"o\" ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office\" />
