Abstract

Load forecasting in general and short-term load
forecasting in particular plays a very important role in efficient and reliable
operation of power systems. Currently, there are many load forecasting methods
that have been proposed and each method has its own advantages and disadvantages.
This paper presents a short-term load forecasting method based on Group Method
of Data Handling (GMDH) combined with pre-processing techniques in probability
and statistics. The proposed method can give high accurate results and is very
flexible so it is easy to use with time series data in practice. The results
obtained from the proposed method are also compared with those obtained from
other popular methods to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed method.
