Current status and proposed solution to intergrated management of coastal water quality in the area of Ban Than, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province

Abstract

Coastal water of Ban Than area is the reception of the water source towards the sea of Tam Ky river system and Trau River through An Hoa and Cua Lo gates. Therefore, water quality is affected by economic, and social activities from many different locations. Currently, coastal water quality of Ban Than area itself is still within the limits allowed. Over 3 surveys are done at 6 locations with the analytical criteria of pH; Salinity; DO; COD; TSS; Fe; scum oil, grease; mineral oil and Coliform.The results show that apart from Fe indicators, the other indicators are within the limits allowed by QCVN 10:2008. However, only some areas can serve aquaculture, aquatic conservation or tourism. To manage the environmental quality of coastal seawater of BanThan area for sustainable development requires the integrated management.
