A method for determining loss of energy expectation for customesr by using the load duration curve

Abstract

Loss of energy expectation is an important index for evaluating the reliability of electricity supply for customers. This index is frequently used in planning, designing and operating the distribution power network when comparing the economic benefit of different solutions proposed for increasing the system reliability (such as installation of additional line, extension of capacity of transformer substations, reconfiguration of operational distribution schemes…)with the investment cost to realize those solutions. This paper presents the method for determining loss of energy expectation for customers by using the load duration curve in combining with supply capacity of the distribution network. The method has been illustrated by an example of determining the loss of energy expectation in a real power supply system for customers.
