Abstract
The present study on “The density fluctuations of planktonic diatom species in coastal shrimp ponds at Quynhbang Commune, Quynhluu District, Nghean Province” was conducted for a period from September 2010 to July 2011. In this study, three stations were chosen from Chithanh, Maigiang and Trinhmon Farms. The study focuses on identifying the density fluctuations of planktonic diatom in coastal shrimp ponds. The study results showed that, in the area of shrimp ponds, planktonic diatom density tended to be higher at the beginning of the crop and lower toward the end of the crop. In particular, the high densities of algae were determined by a species or group of dominant species as Cylindrotheca closterium, Coscinodiscus spp., Chaetoceros spp., Pleurosigma spp., Gyrosigma spp.
