Abstract
A Rip Current is a strong, narrow, current of water which runs perpendicular to the beach and pulls out to sea. It typically extends near the shoreline, through the surf zone and past the line of breaking waves. The morphological characteristics of the beach, the coastal waves and tidal oscillation play an im important role in the generation and intensity of Rip currents. This paper studies the variables of RIP currents from the effects of waves, winds and the tidal change, but has not studied the effects of beach morphology change. The results are calculated by the coastal wave and circulation coupled-model (Mike Couple). The results show the occurrence of Rip currents in the system of coastal circulation at some locations. Rip currents are maximum at low tide and minimum at high tide. The maximum velocity of rip currents is 55 cm/s.
