CULTURAL- HISTORICALVALUES OF PLACE NAMES OF VILLAGES AND COMMUNES IN QUANG BINH PROVINCE

Abstract

Based on characteristics of natural geography, history and culture of Quang Binh province, the study makes observation, statistics, classification, analysis and description of some cultural-historical values of the system of place names of villages and communes in Quang Binh province.The cultural-historical values of place names of villages and communes in Quang Binh province are manifested in the following aspects:a/ Manifestation via a type of cultural language of naming villages and communes in Quang Binh province; b/ Manifestation via the content of reflecting the reality and the hallmark of cultural exchanges.The place names in Quang Binh province transparently demonstrate the mutual connection among aspects including daily culture, labour and army cultures. They also reveal the contact among Vietnamese, Cham, Indian cultures and other ethnic minority cultures.
