The reality of experiential learning operation in pedagogical profession training at uniiversities of technical education

Abstract

Experiential Learning is a theory of modern education, prominent in the 20th century. The theory was founded by the leading educators in the world such as Lev Vygotsky, John Dewey, Kurt Lewin, Jean Piaget, David A Kolb, and other educators. The paper proposes a model of pedagogical profession learning based on Experiential Learning theory and thereby orientates experiential learning activities corresponding to learning stages. The author has conducted a survey on 50 teachers and 350 students at the Universities of Technical Education in the whole country by questionnaire and interview. The results show that the teachers have not yet focused on organizing learning activities based on the experience to develop teaching skills for students. Testing and assessment of learning outcomes still bases on the writing rather than on experience activities, which have not accurately reflected the ability of students.
