DISCUSSION ON TYPES OF COMPOSITION AND METHODS OF COMPOSITION OF PLACE NAMES AT QUANG YEN TOWN, QUANG NINH PROVINCE

Abstract

Place names are a branch which has been studied from many different angles such as history, culture, archeology, ethnology... and linguistics. When put in terms of language, place names are often studied in two aspects: structure and significance. Composition and composition methods are two major issues in which researchers are always deeply interested and are an indispensable issue in the study of place names. This paper presents composition types and composition methods of place names in Quang Yen, Quang Ninh province - a region which went through ups and downs of history still retains its own identity and is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
