Partial discharge and application of omicron’s technology equipment to measurment of partial discharge of transformers

Abstract

Today, the application of diagnostic testing technologies to the prevention of incidents for the power sector is gradually becoming a new trend in the world. While conventional testing methods only assess whether the equipment can operate or not, diagnostic testing methods more detailedly evaluate the operation status of the equipment, assisting in detecting weaknesses so that reasonable plans for repairs and maintenance can be proposed to prevent incidents effectively. These technologies have demostrated their effectiveness and outstanding advantages compared to the conventional ones. The application of diagnostic testing technologies to the prevention of incidents, especially assessing status of partial discharge (PD) for equipment is crucial. This paper introduces general theory of PD, its influence on the device\'s insulating system and application of OMICRON equipment to measuring, analyzing PD phenomena for transformers in 110kV substations.
