A research on climate adaptability strategy of tube house design in Danang city, Vietnam

Abstract

Tube house is the most common residential type in Da Nang. However, climate adaptability design of this kind of housing has not been given proper attention at present. Based on field investigation, this study focuses on the surface temperature of residential roofs and walls, indoor air temperature and indoor wind speed, and objectively describes the impact of climate on the tube house design and its adaptability. From the results of the survey, this paper points out some typical design problems, and then discusses and puts forward some strategies to improve the climate adaptability of the tube house. Each strategy aims at reducing the impact of solar radiation on the roof and walls, and improving the effect of indoor ventilation.
