Abstract
This paper explores the perceptions of English for Tourism major students at the Department of English for Specific Purposes at University of Foreign Language Studies – the University of Danang towards the learning-oriented assessment model. Questionnaires are administered to 34 third-year students after they have completed a group project informed by the learning-oriented asessment framework. Data collection is quantitatively analyzed using the statistical software SPSS 18.0. As the findings indicate, the participants perceive that the adoption of the model assists them in developing their communicative skills, team work skills, creativity and independent thinking. In addition to this, the participants state that the model enables them to achieve intended learning outcomes.
