Discussion on the process of mobilization of the Vietnam detective story

Abstract

Detective story is a new literary genre in Vietnam. In the early 20th century, this literary genre emerged and developed by leaps and bounds after that. This genre has an important role in the literary history. However, the mobilization of the Vietnam detective story took place in a short time.
The paper analyzes the path of formation and the basic characteristics of the detective story genre in Vietnam. Accordingly, the detective story was born in the context when national literature was being modernized. It resulted from the simulation and continuation of foreign literature. This innovative method soon brought about concrete achievements but also has certain limitations. It only creates temporary meeting and agreement and thus can not help Vietnam literature keep pace with world literature. The differences in social context, community cultural consciousness and the writer’s mind of creativity is the main reason for the hindrance to the development of the detective story genre.
