Nghiên cứu ý định hành vi đối với các điểm đến trong những năm gần đây đã thu hút sự chú ý của nhiều học giả. Mục đích của bài báo này là đánh giá khái quát việc ứng dụng Lý thuyết hành vi dự định (TPB) trong các nghiên cứu ý định hành vi lựa chọn điểm đến du lịch trên phương diện vai trò giải thích ý định hành vi của các nhân tố cơ bản trong mô hình gốc và sự cải thiện năng lực dự báo ý định hành vi khi mở rộng mô hình. Kết quả từ việc xem xét một cách hệ thống kết quả nghiên cứu của 50 bài báo từ các nguồn công bố uy tín cho thấy: (i) Các nhân tố cơ bản của mô hình gốc có ảnh hưởng khác nhau đến ý định lựa chọn điểm đến trong bối cảnh nghiên cứu khác nhau; (ii) Cách thức mở rộng mô hình TPB là rất đa dạng; (iii) Trong nhiều trường hợp, việc mở rộng mô hình TPB sẽ nâng cao năng lực giải thích của mô hình.
