This paper applies the Archimedes Optimization Algorithm (AOA) to determine the optimal position of distributed generators (DGs) in a distribution grid. The cost function is to minimize power loss in the grid and simultaneously maximize the installation efficiency of distributed generator installations. This idea is coded in Matlab and it is used to verify the IEEE-33 bus distribution grid. Results indicated that with the suggested position of DGs, the power loss is reduced significantly and the installation efficiency is the highest. Compared to other research, with the proposed idea, the distributed generator capacity in total is smaller but the installation efficiency is higher.
