Teaching Literary allusion in medieval literature at secondary schools

Abstract

Literary allusion contributes mainly to the brevity, “illocutionary act” of Vietnamese medieval literature. Using literary allusion in literary writing is one of the prime artistic characteristics of medieval literature. Therefore, when approaching Vietnamese medieval literature, it is necessary for us to exactly understand literary allusion so as to work out more comprehensively the contents and artistic thinking that the authors intend to express.
This article aims to understand the definitions of literary allusion and its the typical features. Besides, the article puts forward some suggestions to enhance the efficiency of teaching literary allusion in Vietnamese medieval literature when teaching literature at secondary schools.
