Simulation in the supply process of biogas-hydrogen mixture to Honda GX160 engine using renewable energy

Abstract

Biogas has low calorific value and a low combustion rate, so it requires the addition of high-calorific-value gasses with good combustion properties, such as hydrogen, to enhance the engine's efficiency. In practice, the composition of biogas-hydrogen mixtures often varies; therefore, the flexible adjustment of the fuel supply system is needed to optimize performance and reduce pollution emissions. This presents a challenge, especially when engines using such mixtures experience significant variations in their composition. This research focuses on simulating factors that affect the biogas-hydrogen fuel supply process, such as the CH₄ content in biogas, the hydrogen content in the mixture, and the throttle valve angle, to create a foundation for designing a timed fuel injection control system for engines capable of using flexible gas fuels.
