Abstract
Life cycle assessment (LCA) is increasingly used widely and popularly in the world but is still new in our country, especially LCA for water systems. This study has compiled 12 selected LCA documents related to at least one part of the water system. The study used a combination of document selection methods, statistical synthesis, and evaluation analysis to compare and provide quantitative data from claims of environmental impacts of the water system and their forecast scenarios. The results show that the electricity consumption rate (kWh/m3) of clean water treatment is the highest (51%). The use of chemicals and electricity is related to the impacts of global warming, eutrophication, acidification, etc. The study also makes recommendations to promote more LCA research, especially for water systems in Vietnam.
