A study on rhetorical metaphors used in Korean newspaper headlines in the social field

Abstract

This study aims to collect and analyze the rhetorical metaphors used in the headlines of Korean newspapers in the social field. To achieve the research objectives, this study used data collection methods, statistical methods, analysis and synthesis methods. The scope of this research is the headlines of newspapers in the social field posted on three online newspapers Chosun Ilbo, Kyunghyang Shinmun, Hankyoreh from January 1, 2024 to February 29, 2024. Through analyzing the rhetorical metaphors in Korean newspaper headlines, this study explained the messages that the authors wanted to convey through rhetorical metaphors. The results of this study help Korean learners understand and use effectively rhetorical metaphors in learning and real-life communication.
