Sự sẵn sàng của tổ chức đối với chuyển đổi số (CĐS) đóng vai trò rất quan trọng đối với thành công trong nền kinh tế số ngày nay, tuy vậy các nghiên cứu về sự sẵn sàng CĐS tại Việt Nam vẫn còn rất hạn chế. Nghiên cứu này nhằm tổng hợp và hình thành mô hình lý thuyết về ảnh hưởng của lãnh đạo số, sự linh hoạt của tổ chức lên sự sẵn sàng CĐS trong các doanh nghiệp vừa và nhỏ (DNVVN), có xem xét tác động điều tiết của chiến lược số, xoay quanh năm giả thuyết: (1) Lãnh đạo số có tác động tích cực đến sự linh hoạt của tổ chức trong bối cảnh CĐS; (2) Lãnh đạo số có tác động tích cực đến sự sẵn sàng CĐS của tổ chức; (3) Sự linh hoạt của tổ chức ảnh hưởng tích cực đến sự sẵn sàng CĐS của tổ chức; (4) Mối quan hệ giữa lãnh đạo số và sự sẵn sàng CĐS được điều tiết bởi chiến lược số; (5) Chiến lược số đóng vai trò điều tiết ảnh hưởng của lãnh đạo số đến sự sẵn sàng CĐS.
