Abstract

This article presents the results of the research on synthesizing the Schiff-based conjugated polymer based on
hydrazone Polyvinylpyrrolidone diethylamino hydroxybenzylidene isophthalohydrazide (PVP-NDHIPH) and investigates its application as a selective indicator for aluminum metal ion (Al3+). The structure of the synthetic compound PVP-NDHIPH was determined through the results of 1H-NMR, FTIR and GPC spectroscopy measurements. Experimental results of UV-Vis measurements show that the synthesized compound is capable of recognizing Al3+ ions with high sensitivity, the detection limit of PVP-NDHIPH for Al3+ in UV-Vis spectroscopy is 26.4 nM. The indicator reaction of PVP-NDHIPH to Al3+ ion occurs almost instantaneously with high selectivity, and UV-Vis measurement results are not affected by other metal cations such as Na(I), Mg(II), Ca(II), Ag(I), Zn(II), Mn(II), Fe(II) in solution.
