Nghiên cứu này nhằm mục đích xác định các yếu tố liên quan đến tỷ lệ thực hành nuôi con bằng sữa mẹ (NCBSM) hoàn toàn. Khảo sát cắt ngang đã được thực hiện ở Đà Nẵng và Thái Nguyên. Hồi quy logistic đa biến được sử dụng để xác định các yếu tố liên quan đến thực hành NCBSM hoàn toàn. Tỷ lệ trẻ được bú mẹ sớm trong 1 giờ đầu sau sinh là 59,2% và có 36,4% trẻ ≤ 6 tháng tuổi được bú mẹ hoàn toàn. Trẻ được thực hành da kề da > 90 phút tăng xác suất bú mẹ hoàn toàn lên gấp 2,9 lần so với trẻ không thực hiện da kề da (p=0,007). Ngoài ra,
trình độ học vấn của bà mẹ là đại học và sau đại học, trẻ được bú mẹ trong 1 giờ đầu sau sinh và bà mẹ tiếp xúc quảng cáo sữa công thức trong thời kì mang thai ở mức độ “hiếm khi” cũng làm tăng xác suất NCBSM hoàn toàn. Các biện pháp giám sát chất lượng thực hiện da kề da được kỳ vọng là có thể tăng tỷ lệ NCBSM hoàn toàn.
