Bài báo phân tích động lực và giới hạn của hợp tác quốc phòng Việt - Nga trong khuôn khổ Quan hệ Đối tác chiến lược toàn diện dưới lăng kính của Chủ nghĩa hiện thực. Kết quả cho thấy từ năm 2012, hợp tác tập trung vào đối thoại cấp cao, huấn luyện, trao đổi kỹ thuật và phối hợp đa phương, qua đó góp phần hiện đại hóa lực lượng vũ trang, nâng cao năng lực quốc phòng và khả năng ứng phó của Việt Nam đối với các thách thức an ninh mới nổi tại châu Á - Thái Bình Dương. Tuy nhiên, sự phụ thuộc vào nguồn cung và hệ thống hậu cần - kỹ thuật quân sự từ Nga, cùng chính sách quốc phòng “Bốn Không” của Việt Nam đã đặt ra những rào cản nhất định. Bài viết đề xuất hàm ý chính sách cho Việt Nam nhằm thúc đẩy hợp tác, bảo đảm cân bằng địa - chính trị và nâng cao năng lực thích ứng trong môi trường quốc tế đầy biến động.
